For 2020, the Smart Fortwo is now the EQ Fortwo and has received a slight facelift over the old model to mark the moment the lineup went all-electric. Compared to the previous model, the biggest changes are visual in nature and are limited to the new styling of the front end, which includes a confusingly huge grille, enlarged to hint at the clatter of the gasoline engine inside. There's no hint of thriftiness in the full-size seats, they're comfortable but firm, and with the benefit of seat height and steering wheel adjustment, the driving position is excellent. Standard Smart Fortwo safety equipment includes five airbags, automatic collision warning lights, side wind assist, stability control, hill start assist (to prevent rolling backwards when going down a hill), an ISOFIX child seat attachment point for the front passenger seat, an unbuckled belt reminder, and a tire pressure monitor.
